F.A.Q. CTAP-TECH Why do we need a course in creative thinking? Most of the work technical people do, revolve around logical and analytic thinking. There are steps and algorithms to follow in doing their daily work. However, everyday we are all faced with questions and problems that have no easy answers. This course will teach you ways to more easily answer these questions and solve these problems. Companies pay to train their technical people to learn new computer languages and engineering methods because it improves their productivity. The same is true for creative thinking and problem solving. Creative thinking and problem solving are skills that can be learned, practiced and improved, and this course will help people do that. There are a lot of books about creative thinking so why do we need to attend a course on it? The main value in this course are the exercises that you will do. You will go through a number of practical exercises. You will experience the things taught and you will have the benefit of seeing others go through the same experience and you will be able to ask questions so you get it right. Learning by doing is the best way to learn techniques for creative thinking and problem solving. Why did you come up with this course? I worked for about 20 years in the field of information technology as a software developer in the fields of networking, communications, graphics and animation. I worked in the field of research and development and about 10 years ago I started working in animation and was intrigued by the way artists and animators did their work. Their creative thinking was a natural part of the way they worked. I realized that this way of creative thinking could be adapted and learned by people in the technical fields. What benefits would we get? First of all, participants will learn relaxation stress-relief techniques. These alone are worth a lot not just for creative thinking and problem solving, but for day to day work as well. Participants will also learn techniques for creative thinking and problem solving in a group or by oneself. Participants will also learn about things that block their creativity and how they can get rid of these blocks. What makes this different from other creative thinking and problem solving courses? The primary difference is that this course is geared specifically for people who work in or around technical fields such as software development, I.T. and engineering. The course content, examples and exercises all come from, refer to or revolve around these fields. So this course is only for technical people? What about other personnel in our company that want to take the course? Of course other people can take the course and benefit from it. If you work in and around the technical field, even if you are not a technical person yourself (e.g. secretaries and marketing personnel in a copmputer company) then this course will work for you. Where are the courses held and how much would it cost? The course is designed to be held in-house for a company or organization's employees. This is the most ideal situation since it lessens overall cost as the company provides its own facilities for the seminar. For individuals or companies that want to send just a few people, there will also be seminars held in an outside venue from time to time. Schedules of such events will be announced in this site.
